Microsoft Edge is a “Trusted” UI App and a core part of the Windows 11-10 Operating System it sets itself to not only be the default browser, but the default PDF reader too it is integrated in Windows 11, Edge is clearly the application that Microsoft wants you to use by any means. And yet, there are many reasons to stay away from Edge and continue using Other Browsers . There is no option to block it but sometimes it can be necessary, for example:
One of our followers has emailed us and asked a way to block Edge because his child use it in restricted Account , his Windows version was Windows 11 Home and he said that he tried all possibilities to block the EDGE but no luck , we coded this App for him and realized many people need it.

Edge Blocker is a Portable Freeware , the app starts up right away after you download and unpack it , (it works on windows 11-10 , Windows 8.1 , Windows 8 and Windows 7). The interface is pretty basic, so no super skills are required to work with it.
To block Microsoft EDGE use “Block” button and to unblock it click “Unblock” button , once you’ve blocked the browser, it won’t load even if you – or an app – tries to launch , we recommend to change the default browser firs if you have no other browser installed (use defult browser link).Edge icon on the GUI will show the status of the Microsoft Edge , if it is grayed out mean it is blocked.
If you use EDGE shortcut box , Edge blocker will create a Microsoft EDGE shortcut on desktop.
In a command prompt, running “EdgeBlock_x64.exe /?” or “EdgeBlock.exe /?” (no quotes) will list all available parameters.
if your Windows user account has administrator privileges, the restriction takes place at the system level, so all users are impacted.

How to use it There are two ways to create a block list: 1. The easiest way is to drag and drop Application/s, a Folder/s or a File/s you wish to block to the AskAdmin interface. If you wish, you can drag several applications on GUI at once.
2. Click the ‘Add File’ button (Plus icon) browse to the application you wish to block.
How to block an Application a Folder or a File if an Application , Folder or File name is on the list , mean: it is Automotically blocked (Folder inhalt will be blocked not folder itself) , but on some cases you should use the “Restart” buton (Guarantee) , if you accidentally block any windows System file this can cause system crash therefore we have tried to prevent it,after that you can use the safe mode to unblock the file
How to unblock an application , a Folder or a File You can unblock a single application/Folder/File, or you can simultaneously unblock all of them
a) Untick an Application , a Folder or a File name b) Delete the Application , Folder or File name (Edit > Delete or Right click > Delete)
If the block does not seem to be work, you may need to restart Windows Explorer. To do so, click the Options menu, then select “Restart Windows Explorer” or use last icon for registered users. AskAdmin uses a hash security method, therefore it is useless to change the restricted application`s exe name and try to run it , you can not break the Restriction with gpedit.msc or anything else.
Block Build-in (UWP) Applications Metro apps are touch-screen-friendly apps , users call them as Windows Apps , Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps or Microsoft Store Apps , for example ; Microsoft EDGE , Calculator , Microsoft sticky notes … AskAdmin can block any of them.

Block Windows Components You may want to block some of the Windows components like Task manager , Registry editor usw. To block them choose “Block Windows Components (Samples)” under the Extras Menu
You can add your own Windows components under this menu via editing “AskAdmin.ini” file , just Add them in proper format
You can save (export) the Block (Ban) list If you are a system administrator and created a list that include dozen of Application or you just Blocked many Applications and want to save the list use “Export list” button (upward pointing arrow)
Your saved list name will include the current date automatically but of course you can give it another name
You can Load (import) the Ban list You can use your saved list any time on any Windows Pc , just use “Import List” Button (Downward Pointing Arrow)
You can Use “Password button” to protect your AskAdmin Application (For Registered Users). If you choose block Applications with your Right click menu , just use Options – Add AskAdmin to the context menu.

How To Use It: Extract the ZIP to any folder and then run the program. Click the “Save Icon Layout” button to save the current desktop layout. You will then see the “New Icon Position” name, resolution and icon number in the list of saved layouts. To restore a saved layout, select the layout from the list and then click the “Restore Icon Layout” button.
You can also right-click the saved layout and choose “Restore” from the context menu. Yet another way is to double-click any saved layout in the list to quickly restore that layout. To delete a saved layout, either select the one you wish to remove and click the Delete button, or right click it and select Delete from the context menu.
You can add “Save/Restore icon layout” to your Desktop or My Computer right-click menu. To do so, click the Options menu and then to ‘Add Context Menu‘ , choose an appropriate option. To remove them, go to the same location, and choose “Uninstall All”.
To add only the Restore option to the context menu, select it first, then select ‘Desktop’ and/or ‘My Computer’ to apply to that menu. Clicking the “Add Only Restore Option” and/or “Use Shift Key to Display” will not create context menu entries, only sub-menus. And the result :

Note 1: In ReIcon’s Options menu, if “Disable Auto-Arrange” is NOT selected (by default, it is), and the Windows desktop context menu entry ‘View –> Auto-Arrange Icons’ IS selected, then ReIcon’s ‘Restore Icon Layout’ feature may not work properly. To Stop Desktop Icons From Changing Positions after log in , restart or refresh please Untick “Auto Arrange icons” feature.
Note 2: If you have multiple monitors and these monitors have separate icon structures, after saving Icon positions layouts , Desktop context menu auto align to grid feature must not be marked, because after the restore , it causes the icons on the closed monitor to appear on the active desktop. In addition, Align Icons To Grid feature shouldn’t be selected in the program settings (under disable auto Arrange)

To enable ReIcon to load at Windows startup, click the Edit menu, then choose ‘Add a shortcut to Startup Folder’. If you wish to remove this later, go to Edit, then choose ‘Delete Shortcut from Startup Folder’

Many people are looking for ways to disable or remove it from their system as they prefer to use other software , for example on Windows 8 and 10 you cannot turn off Microsoft Defender completely anymore , A click on Settings in Microsoft Defender opens the control panel for the program in the new Windows Settings application. You can turn the program’s real-time protection off temporarily, but if it’s off for a while Windows will turn it back on automatically.
