Qmmp – The Portable Freeware Collection



Qmmp (Qt-based MultiMedia Player) is a feature-rich player with support for most popular audio formats, global hot-keys, and various included sound enhancements. The program uses the familiar 3-window structure with spectrum analyzer, a 10-band equalizer, and playlist similar to Winamp.

The program includes tremendous skin support, including thousands from Winamp and the XMMS project.

Supports format conversion, visualization, lyrics, cover art, CUE sheets, tray control, CDDB and ReplayGain support, removable device detection and more. Also supported is a variety of plugins for stereo correction, crossfade, stereo-to-mono, etc.

Cross-platform (FreeBSD, Linux) and available in 26 world languages. A PortableApps version is also available.

Note: Support for older versions of Windows (< 10) can be found in the 1.7.x branch.

UltraSearch Free – The Portable Freeware Collection



UltraSearch Free is a fast and feature-rich search tool, building a searchable listing of drive content in seconds. File name searches narrow as they are typed and support wildcards such as “*.txt“. Additional information like file size and last change date are present, along with access to Explorer’s own context menu.

The program also includes a slower, non-indexing file content search that will look inside files, including a variety of Office (DOCX, PDF, PST, ODT) and compressed files (ZIP, 7Z, RAR). It is recommended that you provide a small set of files to check e.g. ext:DOCX content:portable to look for the word “portable” in MS Word files.

Other search options include AND / OR operations, regular expressions, a custom exclude filter for path, files, parent folders, etc., and results can be exported to text and CSV. Commercial version available with more features.

Version 3.1.2.678 is compatible with Win 7 and has not expired, but it is in installer form.

ImageCacheViewer – The Portable Freeware Collection



ImageCacheViewer scans the cache of your Web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Pale Moon, SeaMonkey, Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera, Vivaldi and Yandex) and lists the images displayed in the recently visited Web sites. For every cached image file, program displays the URL of the image, browser used, image type, image and browsing date/time and file size. Selecting an image from this list shows the image in the lowe rpane and you can copy the image to the clipboard (Ctrl+M) for pasting elsewhere.

The program is useful for getting around some image protection schemes, web development testing and tracking down a specific image when you’re not sure of its associated website.

Note: The author recommends closing all windows of your Web browser before using to ensure that all files are saved to the disk. Additionally, the program won’t work if the browser is configured to clear its cache on closing (for privacy or space reasons).

PDF-XChange Editor is a fast, feature-rich PDF viewer and editor with a tabbed interface. The program includes edition of text-based PDFs, OCR of images to fully text-searchable, full document spellchecking, rotate/crop, comments/annotations, QR codes and more. You can apply custom stamps from any image/PDF file/Windows clipboard, mark-up pages with text and objects and add/edit hyperlinks.

The program supports import and export to text or image (BMP/JPEG/TIFF/PNG etc.).

Note: The free PDF-XChange Editor lacks some features present in the registered version (payware). Some “Pro” features can be used, but will add a watermark upon saving.

DesktopOK – The Portable Freeware Collection



DesktopOK contains a host of beneficial Windows interface tweaks. The program can save the current icon view by resolution and make it easy to swap between views, showing all saved view formats in a list. Other tools include basic screenshots, the ability to force-close programs, color tool, volume and more:

  • Interface tools include reducing clutter with a minimize-to-tray by right clicking on a window close button, mouse hiding and ability to hide desktop icons after a period of inactivity (click on the desktop to make them re-appear). You can even modify default icon spacing.
  • Window management tools include scrolling any window that your mouse hovers over (not just what’s in focus) and alt+drag (for moving windows without having to hold your cursor over the top bar).
