NOTE: Recent press about CCleaner indicates it may represent a privacy concern.

CCleaner is a feature-rich system optimization and privacy tool. The program cleans unused, temporary and log files from your system, as well as traces of online activities such as Internet history and flash cookies. The program contains startup controls for Windows, major internet browsers and context menu entries. Includes a separate registry cleaner, duplicate search, system restore tool and can wipe both deleted files and drive free space for security.

A 64-bit version is available (within the folder). Monitoring functions are only available in the pro version.

Additional cleaner rules can be using an unofficial set of community-developed set. It should be noted that many of these rules are alpha and the developers will not provide support for these rules, a thread in the users forum is dedicated to supporting the add-on rules.

Alternatively, ccPortable is also available.

OpenedFilesView displays the list of all opened files on your system. For each opened file, the handle value, read/write/delete access, file position, the process that opened the file etc. are displayed. You can also close one or more opened files, or terminate the processes that opened these files. This is particularly handy when you are trying to delete/move/open a file and Windows complains that the file is “locked”.

MultiPar helps protect backups and transfers with error detection and recovery. The program looks at information from any number of files and folders to function as insurance against data loss. The program generates companion “PAR” files that are built from a percentage of the originals, using more space for greater protection (e.g. 10% of the original for already safe methods, 50% for frequent failures).

The program has a wide variety of customizations including format, processor usage, and various other tools available to the standard PAR format. For backups, it can also choose PAR size by available free space (e.g. saving a 3 gig file to a 4.7 gig DVD will mean generating a 1.7 gig PAR file).

Functional in Linux/Mac via WINE. The program supports multi-threading, multiple processors, can recurse subfolders, and functions with standard formats including PAR, PAR2, and (experimental) PAR3 formats.

TreeSheets is a mashup of many different program types including spreadsheets, mind mappers, outliners, PIMs, text editors and small databases. It has a tabbed interface and is lightweight and fast, using few system resources even with large files.

It’s like a spreadsheet, but much more suitable for complex data because it’s hierarchical. It’s like a mind mapper, but more organized and compact. It’s like an outliner, but in more than one dimension. It’s like a text editor, but with structure. It is capable of many kinds of data organization, including todo lists, calendars, project management, brainstorming, organizing ideas, planning, requirements gathering, presentation of information, etc.

Functional in 64-bit and cross platform (Linux and Mac).
